Ground & Stars

“Keep your eyes on the stars, and your feet on the ground.”-Theodore Roosevelt

I cannot be convinced that there is a night sky more clear and bright than a winter night sky in Nebraska. Void of humidity, the stars and planets stand out and cause you to stop, look, and lean into the night. We had an opportunity to join our friends Matt and May at their farm for a pheasant hunt and to welcome leaders from Pheasants Forever to hunt with the Harris’/Collins’ crew…this also created the perfect opportunity for us to bring out the Escapod for a little winter camping. Spending time outdoors is a pursuit that we want to become better at including in our life not only in the spring/summer/fall, but also winter. There’s nothing better than the fresh cold air, and a good day outside to tire the body and feed the soul.

Amy kept us full with lots of good food, and the conversations flowed easily, cards kept us entertained, and the weekend went by way too quickly for everyone. Friends gathered, the hunt successful, and a good nights’ sleep was enjoyed. Winter camping should not be forgotten as a way to get away, break away from routine, and enjoy the season as the holidays approach.
