Blue Skies

“All things work toward a pattern of good.”-Romans 8:28

When we need sun in the month of March, we head west to Utah. We love visiting the Moab and St. George areas and have learned how to navigate daily life traveling and working. We also have developed some amazing friendships along the way and now look forward to now spending time with those folks fishing, golfing, and enjoying their hospitality. As always, Mike makes new friends along the way, this year connecting with Marta and Tim in Moab who shared with us their story of a 1-year commitment to full time travel to kick off their retirement. They were just wrapping up their year, so learning their story, where they had traveled as well as their favorite spots (and a few places to avoid), was really fun and helpful as we think about our own journey and next steps.

This particular trip was one of our favorites. We finally figured out how to best navigate Zion National Park and hiked up to Angels Landing for a heart-pounding, adrenaline-filled experience. We also took an afternoon and biked through Zion National Park and breezed through the canyons without another biker in site for most of the ride. After both days, we headed straight to Springdale for a quick lunch and/or dinner and to pop into their local gear stores.

This spring, we noticed a huge different in staying out for an entire month in the Airstream rather than the Escapod. Our days flowed easily and we had a good rhythm to work/life balance in a larger space with more conveniences. This trip provided me specifically with an opportunity to evaluate my time and how I want to spend it, and what makes me the happiest. When we travel, so many distractions are minimized, that the space and time to think become vital in helping us both navigate what is next for us. We have 2024 and early 2025 planned for our travel with stops to:

  • Cabo, Mexico

  • Red Rocks, Central City, Breckenridge, Vail, and Granby, Denver, and Fort Collins, Colorado

  • Cheyenne, Wyoming

  • Snowy Range, Wyoming

  • Jackson Hole, Wyoming

  • Fredericksburg, Texas

  • Scottsdale, Arizona

  • New Mexico

  • Nevada

  • St. George, Utah

  • Moab, Utah

Ultimately, traveling slows me down enough so that I can pause, reflect, and plan forward in a way that feels extremely centering. Our trip this spring to Utah pushed me closer to a brave decision on how to best serve my family, friends, and myself. It’s going to take a shift in priorities, in how I spend my time, and where I feel that I am living most closely to my purpose. The months ahead I am committed to refocusing, making hard decisions where needed, and moving forward into what’s next, and what’s good.
